INEC and OSIWA Train INEC Correspondents in Kaduna

Independent National Electoral Commission  (INEC) in conjunction with  Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) organized three days workshop for INEC Correspondent at De-Nevilla Hotel in Kaduna, Kaduna State Between 16th – 18th December, 2011.

Several topics were treated by Professionals like, Prof. Umaru Pate of University of Maiduguri, Mr Abiodun Akinbusuyi of Lagos Television, Mr Amara Nwankpa, Alh. Mohammed Bello and Dr Akeem Adeyanju.

The Topics includes: 

* The Media’s Role in Deepening Democracy.

* The Media and Social Responsibility: Improving the Media’s Capacity for Objective Reporting of Politics and Election.

* The Challenges Faced by the Media in the Election Coverage: The Way Forward.

* Deepening the Synergy between the Traditional and Social Media for Credible Elections, and

* Enhancing the Role of Social Media in Election Coverage.
